SILAN 2009 - MARGARITA ISLAND

Dear Distinguished SILAN Colleagues

The SILAN 2009 Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to participate in the XXI Congress of the American Society of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Neuroradiology, to be held in Margarita Island in the state of Nueva Esparta, Venezuela. The field of Diagnostic Neuroradiology and Endovascular Surgery has shown significant growth during the last decade.

Digital development and the advent of modern diagnostic technology in combination with advances in materials for endovascular therapy have contributed to the experience and growth of this field, with more practitioners involved into both diagnostic and therapeutic fields.

These important developments will be discussed within the context of the SILAN 2009 Congress, the second SILAN meeting to be held in Venezuela. The first day of the meeting will concentrate on a diagnostic and therapeutic update on topics focusing on major diseases of the central nervous system. Subsequent days will emphasize the various diagnostic and therapeutic themes of the conference, addressing important issues on the current state and future of endovascular therapy. Practical issues and techniques will be emphasized through “How To” sessions where experts will discuss current problems and solutions in their respective clinical Neuroradiology fields.

In addition to the excellent scientific activities, this meeting will also give us the opportunity to share our experiences and establish close ties of friendship and camaraderie through our varied social program.

As part of our Congress we will also have a wide representation of important commercial products and services of critical importance for our diagnostic and therapeutic fields.

Margarita Island has a rich history since 1498 when the explorer Christopher Columbus arrived on their shores while being inhabited by the Guaiquerí Indians. Part of the Spanish legacy of Margarita Island can be explored at the San Carlos de Borromeo Castle in Pampatar, the Santa Rosa Castle in Asuncion, the Santa Ana Spanish Fortress, the Fort of Caranta in Pampatar and Freedom Fort in Galera. You can visit the remains of the New Cadiz settlement in the Isle of Cubagua, founded by colonists in 1528.

Margarita is the religious capital of eastern Venezuela, full of beautiful old churches, scattered over the picturesque villages of the island, where beautiful legends and traditions remain. In addition, Margarita meets the splendor of the Caribbean with its beautiful beaches. As your hosts, it is our goal to provide all our guests of a worthy congress, of the highest academic level and scientific organization in the framework of an island that is blessed by nature.

Get to know and enjoy Margarita!
